Peace, beauty, she is dusk!
“A soulful seascape oil painting inspired by Sandhyā, the poetic embodiment of dusk in Indian tradition. Sailboats drift beneath a moonlit sky, where the face of the feminine divine emerges through ocean and twilight. Ideal for collectors of symbolic, spiritual, and serene art.”
I was mesmerized by the fleeting moments of dusk and several sail boats that were drifting off into the pacific ocean when we were in Big Island. The moon was bright & the colorful sails were disappearing into the horizon & I had to hold my breath to capture the moment.
The moon lit sky felt so mystical & magical like a Goddess looking into the ocean, wearing the moon as an ornament in her hair!
In India, many poets compared the dusk to a mystical Goddess, who doesent linger for long but briefly & those few moments feel sacred!
I tried to capture my experience of those moments in this painting!
I used oil on canvas to capture the richness, & magic.
“Sandhyā—the twilight goddess—emerges in the face of the sky, her breath moving the sails across a moonlit sea. A painting of transition, serenity, and the sacred feminine.”
As the sky blushed into night, she appeared—
Sandhyā, the spirit of dusk, casting her gaze upon the sea.
Her face merged with the heavens, her breath stirred the sails.
This is a voyage not just through water, but through twilight’s
In the hush between day and night,
the sea reflects the face of Sandhyā—soft, knowing, eternal.
Her presence lingers in the tide and wind,
guiding the sails like whispers from another realm.
Boats drift into the arms of twilight,
where the sea and sky are held by the same feminine breath.
Sandhyā waits at the horizon, cloaked in moonlight—
not a time of day, but a goddess of transition and beauty.
At the edge of light and dark, she rises.
Dusk is not fading—it is becoming.
In this moment, she is the sea, the sky, and the wind that guides.
She holds the horizon, and the sails follow.
In the sacred hour of Sandhyā—
where day dissolves and night is born—
her face rises in the sky like a mantra of light and shadow.**
The ocean, ever the disciple holds her reflection with devotion.
Moonlight drapes the sails as they drift into her realm,
carried by the breath of a goddess unseen, yet felt.
She is Sandhyā, the feminine dusk—
not an ending, but a threshold.
